Stacey Jones will return to the Warriors as an assistant coach as part of a football department reshuffle for 2022.
After the departures of Phil Gould and recruiting boss Peter O’Sullivan, Craig Hodges has been named the new general manager of football.
Hodges was previously an assistant with the Warriors after having held similar positions in Brisbane and Gold Coast, while also being an interim coach with the latter.
His appointment opened the door for the club’s greatest player, Jones, to return as Nathan Brown’s right-hand man.
Assistant to Stephen Kearney in 2020, Jones returned home to New Zealand at the end of this season and did not travel to Australia with the team in 2021.
But he will now fly to Queensland next week to join the players at their temporary base in Redcliffe as the Warriors seek to reach their second final in nine years.
“Stacey’s return to the NRL training unit is exciting and I know Nathan Brown is looking forward to working with him,” said General Manager Cameron George.
“Craig has extensive experience at all levels of the rugby league, from grassroots to the NRL.
“He will oversee football operations, including recruiting for the NRL.
“It’s great that we’ve been able to promote from within and we look forward to the positive contribution Craig and Stacey will make to the club in their roles.”
